The mission of the BADPC is to reverse the use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug (ATOD) abuse in our communities through education, prevention, and intervention strategies and encouraging healthy alternatives. This year we are focusing on underage drinking, and we are addressing this serious community issue on several fronts.
As we have gathered information from the our community and specifically the teens in our community, we have identified that there is a strong need to inform and support the parents of teenage children when it comes to the issue of underage drinking.
The Barrington Area Drug Prevention Coalition has launched a major communications campaign designed to inform and education parents about the facts and risks of underage drinking in our Barrington communities. This is a complicated and challenging issue for parents, and this series is intended to inform and support parents of teenage children. Specifically, this series includes information on:
The Affects of Alcohol on a Teenager's Brain Development
Unique Risks of Alcohol Poisoning Associated with Underage Drinking
The Dangers of Binge Drinking
The Correlation Between Underage Drinking and Teen Depression
Parent's Need for Support Agains Underage Drinking
These are serious issues for our youth and our community. These are challenging issues for parents who want the best future for their children.
One major thrust of the BADPC is to assist, inform, and support parents and community members when it comes to underage drinking and other drug abuse prevention. The BADPC wants to be your Parent Resource on these tough issues and challenges.
